What a Day!

Harden Murrumburrah was buzzing with excitement on September 12th, when a coach of 55 people from as far as Wagga, Canberra, Bungendore and Yass were brought in on the inaugural Op Shop Hop as a fundraiser for Zac’s Place Community Centre. The wonderful ticket holders were treated to morning tea and the opportunity to shop at Chats and Treasures, Vinnies, CWA and Book Nook before being taken up to Zac’s Place where they had a wonderful barbecue lunch and shopped at the Anglican Op Shop before getting back on the bus and to be taken to the Boorowa Rotary Op Shop, and then back to Yass.

The feedback on the day was wonderful, with shoppers loving the program for the day, the local town and all their treasures! The town gained so much from this day with more than $3000 being spent in about four hours! All the charities worked together to provide such a wonderful experience, and all on the bus now know where Harden is and what else is on when they come back to visit.

There are plans for a bigger, better day during HOBTRAC on 13th March, 2027.
However, this will provide opportunities to reach many other travellers and locals to be part of the experience. Stay tuned for further information. Thank you to every volunteer who opened their shops for the day and to everyone who gave our visitors a smile – they really appreciated it.
