The Rotary Club of Murrumburrah-Harden’s Cover Up Project has been widely successful, with more than 20 lap blankets and full-sized blankets now dispersed to residents in the Harden Murrumburrah Hospital Nursing Home and Harden Grange.
Knitted and crocheted squares have been donated from all over Australia, including Adelaide,
Melbourne, Cootamundra and Young.
What had initially started as a winter project callout for residents in the local nursing home has quickly grown legs, and volunteers from the Rotary Club have been kept busy sewing together the
donated squares.

Online, the Club expressed their thanks.
“We couldn’t have hoped for a more successful and community-building project, and we truly
appreciate everyone’s involvement, whether it’s knitting or crocheting squares or sewing rugs,” they wrote.
“We hope the nursing home residents of Harden find comfort in these rugs and feel the love and
thoughtfulness of many people.”

The project’s latest batch comes from Lyn Gardiner (pictured), who created an incredible 156 squares that will be made into 13 new knee rugs to those who are in need for some extra warmth this winter.
Lyn, an incredible knitter and crocheter, is just one of the remarkable faces who continue to give back to the community in new and unique ways.
