It wasn’t an easy day for the Harden Red Devils, facing a hungry and strong Temora Tuskers side away on Saturday, but with the support of the community who came along, they got the win 33 – 31. Temora were looking to capitalise on a big win last week and had the Devils in their sights.
Now the Devils have a much-needed bye as they look to charge through the competition as the Premiership sits well within reach.
It was a lot better than last week’s affair, with decent weather keeping the paddock dry after a muddy slog previously.
Jack Alcorn got three tries over the course of the game.
In a conversation with The Twin Town Times, he said it was a well-earned win.
“It was tough enough; they are a good side, and we didn’t take our best, so they made it tough for us,” he said.
“In the end, it was our backline and our speed out there that got us over, and our defence was awesome. I can’t fault the boys or anything. They gave it their all.
“The crowd there was good. Temora had a fair few supporters there, and we had a fair few come across as well. It was really good to see, and it seemed to help the boys.
“Three points went to Ollie Mineham. He had a cracking game. This week we have a bye, and then we play Boorowa next week.
“The boys are looking forward to the bye after a couple of long weeks.”
The women’s team took on the top-of-the-ladder Temora women’s side, who proved to be too much for the She-Devils, 42-nil. The girls will also have a bye this week.
