Sam pushing herself up a steep incline backwards as it was too hard to push forward, highlighting her ingenuity and toughness.
Samantha (Sam) Longmore might just be the biggest name on everyone’s lips, and following her arrival to Harden on July 2, she could now be one of the region’s biggest inspirations.
Travelling from Cootamundra to Harden on Day Six of her eight-day journey, Sam says she woke up feeling good.
“My favourite day was my trip to Harden,” she says.
“For some reason, I don’t know what it was, but I woke up that morning and I felt really good.
“Everything was just kind of happening nicely. Everyone in the crew was having a good time and it was just beautiful.”
Her good fortune was contagious, with one of the biggest crowds in her journey meeting her at the
start of Harden to bring her into the centre of the town.
“Things were just shining the right way,” says Sam.
That day, Sam was joined on the road by several friends who took up the run alongside her. Behind her, her ever constant van packed with more friends remained dutiful with several light-hearted posts to social media keeping the community informed of her movements.
When she reached the start of the town, Sam was welcomed by students, family’s and Harden’s own Hawks.
“Samantha, you are an inspiration.
Your courage, determination and selflessness are touching hearts everywhere you go. Even on the toughest days, you continue to put one wheel in front of the other so others know they are never alone. That takes a very special person,” they wrote online.
“The streets were filled with people cheering, walking, running and riding alongside Sam, lifting her when she needed it most. Your kindness, encouragement and support left Samantha completely overwhelmed. Thos smiles, hugs, cheers and words of encouragement have filled her cup and will help carry her through the next few days.”
