Both the Devils and She-Devils played close games during the Clubs Ladies Day on Saturday, which saw the Devils win 27 – 17, and the She-Devils lose 10 – 19 to Young at Roberts Park. Ladies Day marks one of the biggest days on the Club’s calendar each year, celebrating the women at the Club who dedicate their time to help make the Club run.
The women’s team were looking to get back on their feet after a 29 – 5 West Wyalong loss last round.
The men’s team have been dominating the competition and brought their best to long-standing rivals, the Young Yabbies.
Jack Alcorn of the Harden Red Devils said it was a good win.
“They definitely came to play, but we got over them in the end with a bit of pace around the outside, which was good. It was a good win,” he said.
“There was a bit of a grind there for the first ten or 15 minutes, and then we got a drop goal to start it and followed into a couple of tries, and Young made their way back. We each got a try in the 2nd half to finish it up at 27-17.
“There was a great crowd down there. We didn’t know what it was going to be with the impending weather, but it came off really well. We’re really glad to see so many people down there to support us.
“We got lucky with the weather. We didn’t really have any rain. We had a little shower at about 6:30 pm, but that was after all the games, so we got really lucky.
“Ladies’ Day was good. It was really good to celebrate all the things that all the women in our club do for us week in and week out, and allow us to have the club that we have. It was really good to see that.
“The She Devils went down 19 to 10. Unfortunately. It was a tough game for them; they couldn’t quite get there in the end, unfortunately.
“This week, both the women’s and the men’s teams will be playing against Temora at Temora. We are preparing this week for that. Temora is notoriously a very good team at home. We are not taking that lightly, and we are going to take our best team out there possible.”
Both teams will head to Temora for the Tuskers game on Saturday.
