On Saturday 9 May the ladies from the Harden CWA held their inaugural Autumn High Tea and what a great success it was!
Half an hour before it was due to start, many attendees were queued up outside, ready, and eager to go in and take their seats. By 2pm there was lots of noisy, friendly chatter going on with 53 men and women in the CWA’s auditorium.
This year the Harden CWA have decided to focus their fundraising activities on raising money for The Farm which is located in Galong. The Farm in Galong is a residential drug and alcohol service for women that operates on the Therapeutic Community method of rehabilitation and is designed to assist women to remain permanently free from addiction.

Kate Cleary, their CEO gave us a very informative talk about the operations of The Farm and read out some testimonials from former residents who have been able to turn their lives around. Kate told us that they have a success rate of about 70%. More information about the Farm in Galong can be found on their website www.thefarmingalong.org
The attendees were treated to a delicious afternoon tea starting with a glass of punch, sandwiches, and hot food. Then the “piece de resistance” – the CWA’s famous scones with jam and cream, alongside delicious and artfully prepared little cakes. It all looked too good to eat! What was left over was boxed up and quickly sold off.
During the course of the afternoon raffle tickets were sold. The prize was a gorgeous Guess handbag. The winner of the raffle was Anne Breeze who was thrilled to be the new owner of the beautiful handbag.
