Harden Red Devils have blown away West Wyalong in their first game of the season, men winning 79 – 0 and women winning 33 – 0 at Roberts Park. This is a massive win against the Weevils, which has the Club confident going into next week’s game against the Yabbies at Young, starting at 2:15 pm.
Charlie Brown of the Red Devils said it was a great two wins to kick off the 2026 season.
“It just shows how much confidence there is between players. All the pre-season work seemed to have done its job and was effective. It’s good to see all the hard work they’ve done wasn’t wasted,” he said.
“It really just proves that we’re on the right track. I’m more so pleased with the fact that
there were no points scored against us on the weekend than the points we scored. It’s a credit to everyone involved. It was a fantastic week to start our 50th year.
“We’d love to have the community involved as much as they can be. Without the community, the club doesn’t exist. It’s not a community -based club. It means a lot more than just a rugby club to a lot of people. It’s a place where people can go and connect. It’s a place to get away from everything else. While the rugby itself is great, the Clubs are just as much a community space as they are a rugby club.
“It was great to see a massive crowd down there on Saturday. The year’s been unreal so far, so hopefully that continues and even grows we hope to have a successful year on the paddock.
“We’ve got Young at Young, which will give both of us more of a test. Hopefully, we can get ready for Young and put on a good performance out there.
“We’ve got a sign up there as you come into town on the Burley Griffin Way near the Ultra. That’ll display our fixtures for the week, who we’re against and where we are. Keep an eye out for that one. Hopefully, it’ll give another way to get locals coming along and know what’s going on.
