Harden Rodeo Promises Fun for Whole Family

Get ready for an extravaganza of country excellence!
The Harden Rodeo – Broncs, Barrels and Bands is back this year on April 25 at the Harden Rodeo Grounds.

The Twin Town Times spoke to Zak Leitner of the Rodeo committee, who said it was going to be a huge week end for the community to enjoy.

“There’s going to be a team roping jackpot that will go all day on Saturday,” says Zak.
“[And] then Saturday afternoon, about 3:00 pm, there will be saddle bronc horses, bareback horses, barrel racing, steer wrestling [and] steer rides for the kids.

“There will also be a camp oven competition during the day as well.”

The camp oven cook off competition entries are open for anyone who reckons their coal roasted cuisine is up to the challenge.

“There will be a mechanical bull, jumping castles and things for the kids,” says Zak.

“Then we’ll have Jared Wrigley and his band playing from 6:30 pm until midnight that night.
“We are aiming to make it a family event out for everyone.”

Market stalls will be accompanied by a jumping castle, and Zak says there is plenty for kids to see and do.

Overall, he says their goal is to get everyone back together again for a cost-effective weekend.

“After everything that’s going on [with] the price rise of everything, we want to make it affordable and have a good fun weekend,” he says.

This year’s camp oven competition is a new component to the Rodeo and Zak says he expects to see a lot of people traveling to attend the show to participate.

“We are hoping to draw in a bit more of a crowd with it,” he says.

“We are hoping to put on something a little different.”

The Ladies Ranch Bronc Ride with be combined with the other festivities, so event goers can see both cowgirls and cowboys hit the dirt.
