Trinity Primary School Teacher, Skye Regan, arranged a visit to the museum in Murrumburrah for her Year 2 & 3 students. Seven students in all.
The students attended the Barnes Store before coming to the museum on Tuesday, 17th February 2026. The visits relate to the curriculum subject of local history – places of significance.
Information was given about the former uses of the School of Arts building including as a cinema.
The children were allowed to venture about the museum and were very interested in the domestic sections; they also liked the old telephone systems. Skye and her fellow teacher, Warren, asked the children questions and pointed out items they may find interesting. The Coolgardie Safe and ice chests were of intrigue.
Subjects on Mr Roberts and the Chinese; Mr Newson and the park; Mr Kruger; the first air-mail enactment display. Discussion about the chemist display was of interest.
Upstairs the children were really charged up looking at the sporting items such as wooden golf sticks; trouser press; old dolls; top hats and accessories for hair styling; clothing & shoe displays.
The teachers showed the children the items on display relating to the Catholic Church.
The children were well behaved and encouraged to come again with parents or grandparents.
