Temora Exies Renegades beat the Harden Hornets on Saturday at Nixon Park 7/110 (27.1) – 9/109 (35), placing Harden in a tricky position as the final round closes in this week.
Harden won the toss and elected to bat, which got them off to a great start with Danny Arabin scoring 20 runs and Kai Steele getting 9. While Jeffrey Brown only got 4 runs, Ethan Abnett made up for that with 14, and Ben Brady added even more points with 25 runs.
Jayden Steele got a duck alongside Sebastian Crozier, but Dean Bourlet was able to grab 21 runs to help make up for it.
Benjamin Dyball was able to make 5 runs before the switch to fielding.
Dom Bennett on Temora’s side was only able to get 5 runs, but Chris Block got a whopping 32 runs, which put them in a good position for the rest of the game.
Nate Breust got 18 runs, but Julian Drumore was only able to get 3, and a duck from Harry Swanston evened the playing field a bit more.
This wouldn’t last long as Adam Swanston nabbed 19 runs as did Mark Wilesmith. Charlie Watson was only able to get 2 runs, but 6 runs from Matthias Lancaster put Temora ahead for the win.
The fall of wickets was: 1-28 Kai Steele, 2-35 Danny Arabin, 3-35 Jeffrey Brown, 4-67 Ethan Abnett, 5-68 Jayden Steele, 6-94 Ben Brady, 7-94 Sebastian Crozier, 8-99 Dean Bourlet, 9-109 Benjamin Dyball.
This Saturday, Harden will face Temora Shamrock Leprechans in the first finals round at Tim Doolan Oval. This is a must-win for the Hornets, so be sure to come down and cheer the team at 1:30 pm.
