Well, here we are, after what seems to be a short 2025, we’ve reached our final paper.
As the sports editor, it’s been a terrific year to be a sports lover. Whether your vice is racing, to feel like you were along with Bob Manwaring and family as their locally bred Headley Grange continued to raise the bar week after week, taking big weights in his stride and even taking down Group 1 winner Gringotts in the process.
Maybe you prefer footy, and got to witness a little town of just over 3,000 feature in both of their respective Grand Finals.
Perhaps the biggest highlight of them all though was how the youth did, with the Murrumburrah Public School going on and winning a State Championship in what can only be described as a meritorious effort by both students and teachers alike.
It’s been terrific to have the opportunity to bring to you the sports news not just for Harden, but for all our other towns as well.
As we look forward to 2026, we can only hope for an even bigger and better year in terms of sports news. Maybe next year is the year the Devils get over the hump it what will make 50 years of such an important part of the towns history and identity.
The same can be said about the Hawks, who will be hoping to finally right the wrongs of the past two years, and lift that evasive George Tooke Shield.
Regardless of what happens, the one thing I can guarantee is that, we will continue to do our best at bringing you local sports news, bringing positive energy in what can otherwise be a not so positive world, and continue to involve ourselves within the community and their sporting Clubs.
