SWSCL B Grade Round 6 Wrap: Ladder Heats Up After Key Victories

The SWSCL B Grade 2025/26 competition witnessed a round of tight contests and massive victories in Round 6 on Saturday, November 15, 2025, significantly impacting the league ladder as teams head toward the mid-season point.

The results reaffirmed the strength of the top contenders while leaving the bottom half of the table battling for crucial points.

Harden Hornets Dominate Mavericks in High-Scoring One-Day Clash

The day’s most one-sided affair saw Harden Hornets Senior Mixed assert their dominance, securing a convincing 127-run victory over the Mavericks Senior Mixed Murringo Mavericks Cricket Club at the Tim Doolan Oval.

Winning the toss, the Hornets elected to bat first and immediately capitalised, posting a massive score of 9/265 from their 40 overs. The foundation was laid by Jeff Brown, who produced a stellar innings before retiring on 119 runs off just 87 balls, including 17 boundaries.

This powerful performance set the tone, with late acceleration provided by Jayden Steele, who finished not out with a superb 60 runs off 58 balls.

In response, the Mavericks struggled to build the necessary partnerships against a disciplined Hornets attack, eventually being bowled out for 138 in 36.5 overs. Despite a fighting knock from captain Peter Jolliffe (c) (29 runs) and an unbeaten 43 runs from Shannon McKinney, the target proved insurmountable.

The Hornets’ bowling was a collective success, with Ethan Abnett and Danny Arabin both claiming two wickets apiece, ensuring steady pressure throughout the chase. This vital win helped the Hornets solidify their position in the top five.

Round 6 Match Highlights and Results
Thriller at Miller Henry Oval: Temora Edges Bribbaree

The most closely fought battle of the round took place at Miller Henry Oval, where Temora Exies Renegades secured a nail-biting, low-scoring victory over Bribbaree Rams.

Batting first, the Rams were bowled out for 10/137 in 39.1 overs. The Renegades’ bowling attack was led by a strong team effort, ensuring no single Rams batter could play a significant innings. The chase was an intense, back-and-forth affair. The Renegades chased the score down in the final over, but only just, being dismissed for 10/146 in 39.2 overs, securing a narrow 9-run win in one of the tightest finishes of the season. This hard-fought victory was essential for Temora, keeping them firmly in the hunt for the top two.

Cubs Stage Stunning Comeback Against Bulls

In arguably the most impressive performance of the day, Burrangong Cubs pulled off a spectacular run chase to defeat the second-placed Coota Club Bulls 2nd Grade at Cranfield Oval. The Coota Club Bulls set a competitive target, reaching 9/164 in 35 overs. However, the Burrangong Cubs’ top order made light work of the chase. Their batters exhibited superb form, storming to the total in just 21.2 overs, losing only 3 wickets, finishing on 3/165. This dominant eight-wicket victory showcased the Cubs’ blistering form and significantly boosted their already impressive Net Run Rate (NRR).

Criterion Bin Chickens Slump in Low-Scoring Affair

The match at Nixon Park between Temora Shamrock Leprechauns and Criterion Bin Chickens was a tight, low-scoring contest. The Leprechauns successfully restricted the Bin Chickens, bowling them out for a paltry 10/56 in 29.2 overs. Despite a relatively small target, the chase was challenging, highlighting the difficulty of the pitch or the pressure applied by the Bin Chickens bowlers.

The Temora Shamrock Leprechauns struggled but ultimately crossed the line, reaching 7/59 in 18.4 overs to secure a three-wicket victory. This result provides an important win for the Leprechauns as they fight to stay within the top six positions.

The final fixture saw the Grenfell Blues B Grade forfeit their match, handing a default victory to the Boorowa Big Bottles.

SWSCL B Grade Ladder Update

The competitive nature of Round 6 has reinforced the strength at the top of the SWSCL B Grade Ladder. The Coota Club Bulls 2nd Grade retain the top spot on 38 points, narrowly holding off Temora Exies Renegades, who are also on 38 points but sit second due to a slightly inferior Net Run Rate (NRR of 1.284 versus the Bulls’ 1.538).

The big movers this round were the Burrangong Cubs, whose decisive win propelled them up to 4th place with 28 points. Importantly, the Cubs hold the league’s highest NRR at a staggering $6.457$ despite playing one fewer game than the top two.

Harden Hornets Senior Mixed solidified their position in the top half, remaining in 5th place with 27 points and a healthy NRR of 1.142.

Temora Shamrock Leprechauns cling to the sixth and final play-off spot with 27 points. The bottom half of the ladder now faces a difficult climb. Criterion Bin Chickens sit in 7th with 26 points, desperately needing wins to re-enter the finals race. The struggling Mavericks Senior Mixed Murringo Mavericks Cricket Club remain in 8th place with 22 points, while Bribbaree Rams anchor the table with only 12 points, the only team yet to register a win.

The standings show a clear division forming, with the six teams currently in the play-off positions creating separation from the chasing pack, promising a fierce battle for supremacy in the latter half of the season.
