The 137th Harden Community Bank will be on November 15, all day at the Murrumburrah Showgrounds. Livestock events will run from 9:00 am and events will pack the Showgrounds until the fireworks at 8:30 pm.
Andrew Jones, President of the Show Society, said, “We are in a bit of an exciting new phase. Obviously, we’ve brought a few attractions in over the last few years and now I think we’ve finally nailed it, we’re bringing the bull ride back and we will have it all in one place at the one time and make it as affordable for everyone to come in as possible for families and try and enjoy the whole day and finish off with the fireworks.
“It has been an ongoing thing. The idea of the rodeo popped up the night of the show last year, so it started from then, but the rodeo committee has jumped on with us, and they have gone through leaps and bounds to get to where we are. They are part of it, and we are just moulding it, as we are helping it as best we can with sponsorship, among other things. We are organising the quick shear and everything else that goes around it. It takes a mountain of work, but we’ve all got very committed people in different areas of the show, whether that’s wood chop, the quick shear, the rodeo or the pavilions or whatever, there are all dedicated people in those areas that make it run a lot smoother.
“Just come down, it’s going to be as affordable as we can. We are hoping to have as many different food stalls as possible, and there will be full bar facilities and everything there.
“The dog high jump and the dachshund race will be there, there’s a bit of prize money up for grabs in both of those as well.
“There is going to be kids’ stuff there. We don’t have the full sideshow events, but we’ve got the mechanical bull and all the inflatables and the rock climbing wall. Once people are in there, the only thing they’ll have to really buy is food and drinks.
“We are trying to make things for the community as enjoyable and as cost-friendly as we can.
“The quick shear is always a big success. When you get the international entrants coming and flying over to go into your competition, it’s definitely a bit of a drawcard. Still, there were also world champions in the wood chop there as well, and we are hoping that they come back again.
“It is a spectacle and it’s all going to be in the one area and then add into that as well, you are going to have some of the best bull riders around the countryside all come and converge onto the Murrumburrah Showground, it looks pretty good.
“We want to give a massive shout-out to all the sponsors that have jumped on board and supported us. Nothing happens without sponsorship, and being that we are a small community, everyone is so generous, and it’s as much a part of them as what it is, all our hard work for putting it on.”
