Barry and Marcie Quinn celebrated an extraordinary milestone last weekend, marking 60 years of marriage surrounded by their ever-growing family.
The couple’s ten children, nine children in law, 30 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren (with three more on the way), and a host of partners and spouses gathered to honour the occasion.
The celebration began with a family photo at McLean Oval, a place rich in Quinn family history and the scene of many sporting triumphs over the generations.
Festivities continued at Barry and Marcie’s family home in Murrumburrah, where they have lived for nearly 50 years. Their backyard was transformed to reflect the theme of their original wedding day, complete with a recreated wedding cake, which the couple cut together.
In keeping with family tradition, “Nan and Pop’s” famous lolly jar was passed around by a new generation of children, and as always, a game of cricket took place.
Those fortunate enough to know Barry and Marcie will attest that their marriage is built on friendship, and a great sense of humour.
