The local Bendigo Community Bank Harden-Murrumburrah granted two thousand dollars to the Harden Swimming Club on July 9. The funding has purchased a new gazebo and flags.
The Swim Club said they can’t wait to use these in the upcoming swimming season at carnivals to provide shade for our swimmers and families.
Georgie Loiterton, President of the Swimming Club, said it was vital funding.“It’s really vital for community clubs, not only the Swimming Club, but for community clubs to be supported in that way. We know that the cost of living for so many people is a continuous struggle and that’s something that’s going up and for us in particular, we provide something that is a vital lifesaving skill. For us to be able to still provide those things and continuously build our club, but also keep our membership prices down and affordable, then we’re really lucky to have organisations like the Bendigo Bank that allow us to do that.
“The new gazebo and flags will be able to be used in the upcoming season at Swimming Club, at Club nights, at carnivals and things like that. “It is something that we had identified that we needed, and if we hadn’t have been receiving that grant, then we would have had to pay that out of our own pocket, which would mean that potentially our cost of memberships would continuously rise and we are just so conscious of trying to keep our memberships and what we offer as affordable as possible.
“We are really lucky and we feel really blessed that we have organisations like that that will support us to continue doing what we do.
“We have some great sponsors, like Graymont, has continued to be a major sponsor for us. We are really lucky that we have them. We also have numerous other businesses that support us, like SWS Bank, Glovers Shearing, Signs Are Us and Hard Rock Gym.
“We have found since rebuilding the club over the last few years, the support from the community has been really great. We continue to work alongside Council which continues to be something that we are trying to do more of in the upcoming season. It’s important to acknowledge that the community and businesses are always really supportive of us and we are really grateful for all of that support. We couldn’t do it without those businesses.
“We are just so conscious of trying to keep our memberships as affordable as possible and the support of those businesses allows us to do that.
