Harden’s very own Brad Williams will be having his locks shaved off this Saturday 14th June at 7pm at the Harden Country Club. Brad will be donating it to the charity Variety – Hair with Heart.
There will be raffles on the night with lots of great prizes donated by local businesses. If you would like to have a shave of Brad’s head you can make a donation and you can have a go.
Seven years ago while Brad was at school, he mentioned to Kay Allen (who at the time was working at the High School as a support teacher) that he would like to chop his hair and give it to sick kids. So Brad and Kay organised a fundraiser and raised $1100 for Hair with Heart.
Now 7 years on Brad said to Kay, “I need your help”. She knew what he wanted to do and the pair have been busy organising Saturday night’s event. Hair with Heart makes wigs for children suffering from cancer, alopecia and other medical conditions that cause them to lose their hair.
The funds Variety receives for the hair allows us to help kids who need wigs due to hair loss caused by medical conditions, including alopecia and other rarer conditions, such as Trichotillomania, a hair-pulling disorder.
Each year, Variety receives around 6,000 donated ponytails from big-hearted girls, boys, women and men from across Australia and occasionally further afield too. It takes around 16-20 ponytails to make a medical-grade human hair wig.
Come along to the Club on Saturday night and support Brad in his very worthy cause.
