Harden hosted Grenfell on Saturday for their second home game of the season. The men knew that they had a solid game ahead and it showed in their warm up. Everyone was looking slick.
The first half saw a double from Tommy Butt, as well as a flourish of tries from the rest of the team, taking the Devils into the break with a 34-0 lead.
Over the half-time break, the men discussed sticking to their structure that has been continuously improving throughout the season. The Devils continued to score tries throughout the second half, while Grenfell had a solid last 20 minutes, scoring 3 tries to get on the board. Final score 57-15.
Coach Jack Alcorn was pleased to see his team remain undefeated.
“We came out of the blocks well. We just probably ran out of steam for the last 15 or 20, which is understandable.
“We got 36 in the first half, which leaves us with 21 in the second.
“We had them to nil until the last 15 and then they got a couple of tries at the end.
“They just got in and started grabbing up high on the bigger fellas, which, even though they weren’t that solid, you can’t take them high.
“Tommy Butt got a couple of tries in the first half. He got a double and was impressive throughout.
“As to other standouts, there was a bit of a mixture. I don’t think anyone else got a double. There were a few people across the team who got a try here and there.
“Jack Glover kicked goals for us. He went pretty well. He only missed three.
“Grenfell had a reasonable crowd show up, and we had a pretty solid crowd there as well.
“This week we are at home again against West Wyalong.
“This year, they are going all right.
“They’ve had some pretty solid games against a few of the better teams. We definitely won’t be taking them easy.
They are a side that is developing.
“We’ve got a few blokes back this week, we had a few away last week.
“We will have three or four back this week.
“Blokes have been getting to training and making it easier on the coach. We’ve had 18 to 20 at most trainings.
“We are currently second on the ladder, a point behind Boorowa.
“We are continuing to build. We are lossless so far, so we’re going to keep trying to continue that streak and make sure the rest of the season holds.
“We’ve got a couple of solid games coming up. We’ve got the next three games. West Wyalong, I think they’re going to be pretty good.
“We won’t want a turnoff against them; Young and Boorowa are pretty big games to finish off the season. Anything can happen. “

Overall a great win from the men in red that puts them 1 point behind Boorowa and 8 points ahead of Coota and Young.
This weekend, Harden is home again, taking on the West Wyalong Weevils, who have had a solid start to their season. Another game not to be missed.
