HRDC Street Party A Huge Success

The Mother’s Day Street Party hosted by the Harden Murrumburrah Regional Development Corporation (HRDC) on Thursday 8th May was a wonderful community event. There were 32 local businesses and community groups who had stalls and/or provided activities up and down Neill Street.

Some of the stalls even offered food options, so dinner was sorted for those who came along. The Trinity Catholic Primary School’s Donuts and Murrumburrah Primary School’s Butter Chicken were particularly popular and completely sold out.

The Street Party was a great opportunity for members of our local community to get together and catchup with each other. Children were seen having lots of fun with many of the activities that were taking place on a road that would usually be busy with vehicles.

The Harden Red Devils had lots of children and adults testing out their ball handling and passing skills, and the RFS Fire Truck had a constant stream of visitors. There was also faces painted and lots of crazy hair on show.

Julie and Liv Doolan and their Ohana team were thrilled with the support they and other local businesses experienced.

Julie said, “it was so lovely to see everyone out and about enjoying themselves and spending locally in Harden for Mother’s Day. Along with sharing a glass of Barwang bubbles and a Reflexing Rose lesson our valued customers spent generously. The number of sales in one day was equivalent to what we would normally do in a week.”

Melissa Pinney, HRDC’s CEO said, “I would like to thank our major sponsor, Bendigo Bank who we are fortunate to have as a strategic partner of HRDC. Great community events don’t happen without sponsorship and lots of organisation.”

HRDC’s Community Engagement Officer, Antonia Brown did a great job coordinating the event, and Hilltops Council provided support to prepare Neill Street so the local community could roam freely between stalls and activities.

“It was very much a collaborative effort. The local businesses and community organisations that took part in the event, and all the community members that came along to enjoy the Street Party made it a real success. It’s another great example that we are stronger together!” said Melissa. Media Release HRDC
