The Harden Hawks will be back competing in the George Tooke Shield this week after last week’s washout. The Hawks will face a tough road trip this week against the Bungendore Tigers.
Harden will be looking for revenge after last year’s 30-6 Grand Final defeat at the hands of the Tigers.
Coach Nick Hall anticipates a tough game.
“We would’ve loved to have played last weekend just to have that bit of extra edge and sharpness about our footy, the Tigers’ brilliance is no secret though, they’ve been in and around the best team in the comp for several years so we’re expecting a gritty and difficult game,” Hall said.
“To be the best you’ve got to beat the best, last year’s Grand Final still stings a little bit for us but this year is an entirely new season, it’s okay to have that little bit of vengeance in the belly but I want to see the boys approach this game like they would any other and hopefully come home with the win.
“They’ve got a strong forward pack, so compacting that will be first on the agenda, their halves are quality and if you don’t get up and show a bit of line speed to them they can just control the game and put it to bed, we’re aware of their dangers and will try our very best to overcome them.
“We’re still missing a few key players but we’re hopeful we can overcome that, as the coach you don’t have to say much to motivate a playing group going against a side like Bungendore, they’re naturally up for it.”
