Power Outage Leaves Twin Towns Without Power

The twin towns were left without electricity on Sunday morning following a traffic incident that brought down a power line pole and caused a significant outage. The blackout occurred around 8am, after a truck reportedly attempted a U-turn on West Street near the Ultra Fuel Station.

CCTV footage shows the vehicle allegedly struck the power pole during the manoeuvre. Rather than stopping at the scene, the driver is alleged to have fled immediately after the impact, leaving behind a damaged pole and a string of homes and businesses without power.

The incident caused a widespread blackout, with power lost throughout much of the area. The outage disrupted morning routines across the community, with many residents waking up to find appliances offline, phone signals limited, and shops temporarily shuttered.

Essential services scrambled to respond, and by late morning, power had been partially restored to sections on the eastern side of town. This allowed the local supermarket to reopen and resume operations, bringing a bit of normalcy back for residents needing supplies. However, the area surrounding the crash site remained without power for several more hours as crews worked to repair the damaged infrastructure. Power was gradually restored to those final pockets later in the afternoon.
