Cuddle Bed Donation From Harden Auxilliary Godsend for Hospital

Prue Pavitt, Maureen Watts, President of Hospital Auxiliary and Nurse Manager Steve Evans.

Last Thursday, the Harden Hospital Auxiliary donated a ‘cuddle bed’ for the Harden Hospital which will allow the service to take care of people more easily and efficiently.

A cuddle bed is fitted with two independent mattresses comprised of an Air Acute 8 turn mattress providing much needed pressure relief and a premier acute foam mattress. The cuddle bed can be extended to cater for those who are much taller with bolsters provided to extend the mattress bases.

A cuddle bed can be configured as either two separate king single beds or combined into a queen-size bed for closeness. It’s fitted with two independent control systems, allowing personalised adjustments for each side. The design ensures both comfort for the patient and ease of use for care providers.

Maureen Watts President of the Hospital Auxiliary in Harden said, “We purchased a cuddle bed for the hospital so that enables two people to be able to hop into that bed if need be for the palliative care. Anyone can use it, such as a larger person, but it’s there for the community. They’re quite ex-pensive but due to the work of all our previous members and current members we are in a position to purchase it and we’ve also given them a night and day lounge for someone to sleep on if need be.

“The Hospital was very grateful to receive those items. We often ask them if there’s anything they need.”

Maureen went on to speak about how the Auxiliary is doing.

“We’re going well, we have a meeting every month on the first Thursday of every month in our rooms and we normally cater for wakes but due to the Bowling Club being destroyed in the storm, we can’t do anything at the moment but due to the generosity of the community in the past, we were sort of in a position to be able to purchase this bed.”
