Three graves side by side for the Arthur family in the Harden- Murrumburrah cemetery.
Hilltops Council at its February meeting passed a slew of policies in bulk on February 26 with more than 148 pages across the nine items. They included some controversial topics, but none probably more controversial than the Cemetery Management Policy.
The policies had components that if there were no submissions within 28 days, or 42 days, then those policies would automatically become the Hilltops Council policy.
The policy which the Twin Town Times has received the most feed-back about is the Cemetery Policy, but that’s not the only issue the residents and rate payers saw issue with.
The Times is aware of up to half a dozen submissions against the policy, which may not sound like many, but in the scheme of policy opposition, it is a lot, especially when it is placed in a business paper that contained approximately 1,500 pages and was separated in to two sections and needed to be read by Councillors in less than six straight days of reading.
