Murrumburrah Harden Flexible Care Services drew the winners of their massive raffle over the weekend, at the Harden Country Club. Tickets for the major fundraiser have been on sale throughout the town since the beginning of the year, and it has drawn a massive amount of community support, with over 1000 tickets sold. Shirley Stevens of Harden was lucky enough to take out the major prize of an $8000 Helloworld travel voucher.

Upon being informed of her win, Shirly quickly declared that it must be ‘bull dung’, and has been apologising for her language ever since. “I never win anything! I didn’t think I had a chance of winning, but I always buy a ticket, it’s good to see your money helping people in town”, Shirl said. The raffle was one of the first ever held by Flexicare, and was a huge success for the organisation, raising a significant amount of money.

Stewart Bruce, Flexicare Chariman, expressed his thanks to the community for supporting the raffle, as well as those individuals and businesses who sold tickets. Sincere thanks was also extended to Helloworld travel of Cootamundra, who assisted greatly with the raffle.

“The great thing about Flexicare is that it helps people maintain their independent lifestyle,” Stewart said. Shirl agreed saying, “Flexicare is fantastic, it helps anyone and everyone, the town’s lucky to have it.” When asked what she planned to do with the fantastic prize, Shirl simply said, “We don’t know yet. We’ve got plenty of time to decide.” Catherine and Chris Minehan of Cootamundra were the winners of the runner-up prize of a $2000 voucher.
