Lisa Johnson with Hawks President Jason Pollard at the Carrington Hotel to announce the 2018 sponsorship.

The Carrington Hotel has joined up with the Harden Hawks for the 2018 season after a successful season for the club and the Hotel in 2017. The Hawks claimed Premierships in First Grade and the Youth League competitions, whilst the Hawkettes went very close to back to back wins. The Hawks and Hawkettes will continue to utilise the Hotel’s facilities, with all 3 grades and their supporters. Hawks President Jason Pollard said “It’s a new thing for them and us, but they have been willing to help the club out with anything we have needed.

The Hotel sponsored 4 Man of the Match prizes in the Grand Final and Presidents Award, where 4 players were awarded a prize where they could spend $50 a week at the Hotel, for 50 weeks, free of charge. It was very generous. Awards went to Jess Doolan, Luke Brown, Will Quinn and Jayke Hogan.” Training is looking to commence in early February 2018 for the men, while the ladies League Tag will be preparing to take part in a few pre-season knock outs after coming runners-up in Young in early 2017.

The Hawkettes defeated Albury, Young and Nowra, showcasing their abilities to the district. The premiership winning Youth League side will continue on into an u19s format in 2018 which will see much of the side stay together. This will strengthen the club, allowing flexibility between the two mens grades where it is expected that several younger players will make their First Grade debuts or cement a place in the side. The Hawks aren’t the only organisation to benefit from the Carrington. The Harden Rodeo welcomed a major sponsorship by the Hotel with the official after party held there on Saturday night.

The Carrington also sponsor a local touch football side amongst a number of other sponsorships which contribute to the town’s sporting groups. Any players who are interested in playing for the Hawks in 2018 can contact Anthony (Gee) Giannasca on 0404 029 916, Nathan Schofield for the u19s on 0400 355 142 or President Jason Pollard for League Tag on 0458 658 224.
