Hello, my name is Emily Stanfield. I am 16 years old and I am attending Murrumburrah High School. I have started doing work experience at Twin Town Times in Harden. I will be doing work experience for one week. I chose to do work experience here as I am interested in writing and photography, and I would like to learn more about this and increase my skills in this area.

I was born in Canberra and I lived there for the first 12 years of my life, completing primary school at Miles Franklin Primary School in Evatt, ACT. I moved to Harden after I graduated, so I could start year 7 in 2014. I missed Canberra a lot when I first moved, but I made plenty of new friends at my new school.

I still keep in touch with my friends from Canberra to this day. Living in the city and living in the country are two different things, but I like them both. I consider both places as my home. When I was living in Canberra, I had more knowledge about farming and living in a rural area than most of my peers, as I had been brought up around animals and I live on a farm. I started riding horses when I was 2 and a half years old, and I joined Harden Pony Club when I was 6 years old. I used to compete in show jumping, jumping 80 cm normally, and I jumped 1.05 m in a six bar event. I decided to have a break from riding in early 2016, and now I occasionally ride one of my mother’s horses whenever I don’t have any schoolwork to complete.

I am in year 10 this year and the subjects that I study are: English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Commerce, Drama, Crimes & Catastrophes, PE, and Careers. In my spare time I like to read books, listen to music and watch movies. My favourite movies are Star Wars (all movies), Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and Lion. I have way too many favourite books to name, let alone songs!

I participated in the Dramatic Minds Festival performance which won people’s choice, and I will be performing on CAPA night next week. I am also a member of the Student Representative Council (SRC), and I got the chance to go to SRC camp in Murrumbateman earlier this year. I have enjoyed doing work experience so far, and it has been a great learning experience.
