Harden Hawks Rugby League Club President Jason Pollard.

Harden Hawks Rugby League Club President Jason Pollard. The Harden Hawks are the most successful club in the George Tooke competition in 2017, after being crowned Club Champions this week. The Hawks have proven themselves the most consistent with all 3 grades preparing for the upcoming finals series.

The prize of $3,500 will be a welcome addition to the club’s coffers. The Youth League side has completed their regular season with 12 wins from 12 attempts, with 4 byes. The Hawkettes dropped just the one match against the undefeated Bungendore Tigerettes who they will most likely face in the Grand Final, if they continue their good form. Bungendore finished their season with 784 FOR points and 24 AGAINST points. This translates to an average score of 56-1.7 in each of their 14 matches. The Hawkettes are the reigning Premiers and finshed second on the table.

The Hawks First Grade side are really starting to hit their straps with an impressive win against Binalong on Saturday. They, like their female counterparts, have finished second on their table and secured a home Semi-Final at McLean Oval this weekend. If they play at 100% they will be very hard to beat, however, the First Grade Premiership is wide open with Crookwell (Minor Premiers), last year’s Premiers, the North Canberra Bears and the dark horse the Boorowa Rovers, all capable of winning the big one. Binalong appear to be suffering from several injuries which have weakened the squad and are now outsiders to make the GF.

Jason said, “Pat Smith, Will Stanley and Nick Stephens all finished equal top try scorer for the Youth League comp. Emma James and Georgia Smith were also nominated for Best and Fairest in the League Tag comp at last night’s Canberra Rugby League awards.”

Much of the Hawk’s success over recent years has been due to Pollard’s influence. He is supported by a very hard working and large committee, who assist him in everything from game day set ups, to sponsorship arrangements. “It has been impressive by all 3 grades with the Youth League the standout.” A full bar and bbq will be in operation and the ground is strictly no byo alcohol.

A huge day of Semi- Finals Rugby League is planned for Saturday at McLean Oval. Match Times – 9:30am Youth League North Canberra Bears v Tuggerannong Bushrangers. 10:55am League Tag Crookwell She Devils v Boorowa Roverettes. 12:15 League Tag Harden Hawkettes v Boomanulla Raiderettes. 1:35 George Tooke North Canberra Bears v Binalong Brahmans. 3:15 Harden Hawks v Boorowa Rovers.
