On Friday the second of June, Wombat hotel Social Club President Chris Holmes presented Hennessy Catholic College Year 11 student Marylouise Minehan and principal Trazel Scott with $1000 to aid their Cambodia Immersion Tour. Departing at the end of June, 30 Year 11 Hennessy students will travel to Cambodia to initiate the annual program, where students will utilise the Social Group’s donation as well as fundraised money to purchase resources to construct houses as well as donate to a local orphanage. They will additionally take time to explore the culture of the country, immersing themselves within the heritage and social atmosphere. Past students who have taken part in the program have detailed this as a perspective broadening experience, developing respect and empathy for the conditions of those in other countries and instigating a sense of gratitude for the conditions of our own. Students too hope to be enlightened by the trip, eager to make an impact on the lives of those who need it the most. We’d like to express our gratitude towards the Wombat Hotel Social Group and the community of Wombat for your consistent support of our endeavours as a school and as individual students. Your magnanimity contributes to the success of these programs. Thank you!
