That’s The Ticket has proven to be an astute purchase by a group of locals, looking to have some fun in the world of thoroughbreds.

The $3250 weanling was bought at auction on the online auction site, bloodstock auctions, by local racing enthusiast and President of the Harden Picnic Race Club, Nathan Schofield.

That’s the Ticket having a spell in the paddock.

Nathan said, “We had a look at a few of them and Scott Henman liked the bloodlines of this fella, so we bid for him and got him.”

That’s The Ticket is by Tickets out of Sentimental Song and has gone on to win over $43,000 in his 8 starts.

The syndicate has had to spend the usual costs of shoeing, training, feeding and agistment but are having plenty of fun at the same time.

Nathan said, “Once we bought him we had to get him broken in and gelded but he has paid his way and then some.”

He commenced his career at Wagga with a 4th place over 1200 metres at the odds of 6 to 1 in May last year before heading to the paddock for a spell.

He came back in October to record a second placing, third, tenth and another second placing in his next four starts, before breaking his maiden at the Sapphire Coast over 1200 metres.

A fourth place at Wagga ensued before he returned to the coast to claim another win on the 11th of June.

The winning team.

That’s the Ticket has proven to be a very consistent horse and is never far away from the prize money. He has been trained his whole career by Keith Dryden and Scott Collings out of their Goulburn stable.

His latest win was enjoyed by Nathan his partner Sarah, son Brodie and mother Margaret along with Nathan’s uncle Peter who is also a part owner.

Brodie with the pewter mug after the Sapphire Coast win on June 11.

“It was the first time I have watched him live, it was a good win. The Sapphire Coast Race Club were great and they gave us a pewter mug and a free video as well as some drinks and food. Racing horses is a good hobby, if  you have some spare money. Like a lot of things it’s a gamble but if you get a handy one they can pay their way. You meet a lot of people in racing.”

Keep an eye out for That’s The Ticket he seems to have the wining ticket lately.
