The Devils hope to have Jim Honnor ready for this week’s game, with the classy Back Rower looking to overcome  a shoulder injury. He is pictured here setting up his outside players at Crookwell in 2016. The match was refereed by Bruce Nixon of Boorowa who was coaching Crookwell at the time. He put his hand up to officiate the match after the referee appointed by ACT Rugby failed to arrive. The players agreed that Bruce’s performance was the best they had seen all season by a ref.

Two broken ankles in the ladies rugby side has not given the Harden Red Devils the best start to the 2017 season. The She Devils lost both Kacie Leitner and then Coach Lou McCabe early in the season. The loss has put pressure on the new side which is coming to terms with the pace of 7s rugby.

Injuries are part and parcel of contact sports, however, it is hoped that the ladies will continue to improve as they have been all season and will get a win on Saturday against West Wyalong.

Ladies Day will be held this Saturday at Robert’s Park in conjunction with the home game and there will be a bar and bbq operating until 9pm. The champagne will be flowing for the local ladies both players and spectators to recognise their contribution to the game of Rugby Union.

The alcoholic beverages will be very well priced at $3 for a schooner or glass of champagne.

The mens side is still searching for a few extra players after also being hit with injuries in the first year back in the ‘western’ comp.

President Harry Sachs said, “Hopefully we can get a few more players down there on saturday and get the win and sing the team song. I know there are a few blokes down there who want to sing it.”

The devils are hoping for a swift return to the field of Royce Kerrison (wrist) Aaron Seamen (ribs) Toby Hayden (rib cartilage) and Jimmy Honner (shoulder) who are just some of the unavailable players at the moment.

“A few other players are also carrying some more minor injuries and are toughing it out for us at the moment. We have 3 new players who have joined the side and we look forward to them having a run.” Sachs said, “If we can just gel for this game we can get the win.”

“Ethan Bates has been a stand out for the past few weeks and we have some more size in the back line. Backend Loader has stepped up to the mark and has been playing plenty of minutes at Prop for us.”

Ben Brady continues to be very consistent for the Devils as he has been anytime he has pulled on the jumper. The Devils will be hoping to turn the scoreline around from 2 weeks ago when they were beaten by 60 points.

Sachs said “Coota are not top of the table for nothing but we need to beat Wyalong now, that is the focus.”

With Rugby League having a bye this Saturday, Sachs said, “Come down and have a look, bring the kids and it should be a good family day out”

The She Devils will kick off at 2:30pm followed by the Devils at 3:15 pm Both sides are looking for their first win and would love an enthusiastic crowd at Robert’s Park. GO Devils!
