The Harden Hawkettes aren’t sleeping giants they are competition front runners and favourites and everyone knows it. After claiming last year’s GF at McLean Oval the lady Hawks have gone from strength to strength. They went close to defeating Campbelltown in the Young League Tag round Robin earlier in the season and showed up several group 9 sides in the process.

Their match against the Jersey Girls proved how dominant they could be this year winning 56-6. The Jersey Girls are in a rebuilding phase but that didn’t stop Harden from piling on the points on Saturday.

Tries went to Katie Butt, Jess Doolan and Shauny Murray with the latter running a beautiful arc to out pace the chasers for a try under the posts.

Shauny Murray runs around the Jersey Girls defenders on Saturday.

New comer to the side Maddie Douglas has been an instant success under Coach Jason Pollard, crossing the line for a double. The Smith sisters might need a nickname to go with their brother Pat’s. Grace was unlucky not to score a try when she had a mishap once over the white line, whilst Georgia recorded her first try for the season. Not to be out done, Clare scored a treble and looks to be playing a rung above the competition.

Maybe we can call them the three Musketeerettes! Maybe not. Emma James brought the kicking boots with her and missed just 2 goals from 9 attempts recording a personal tally of 14 points. She backed up after her match to be a touch judge for the First Grade match and did a great job as always. The Hawkettes will no doubt continue to set high standards for themselves and look to be enjoying their League Tag.

The Hawkettes take on Crookwell at 1:50pm at McLean Oval today.
