Anzac Day Commemorations commenced this morning with Galong’s 5:30am service at the Memorial Hall and Wombat’s 6:00am service in Rose Street.

The Harden Newson Park service began at 6:00am with over 170 people paying their respects at the Dawn Service. 102 years after the World War 1 landing at Gallipoli, the Anzac spirit remains as strong as ever. The sombre sound of the bugle calling out across Newson Park.

Master of ceremonies, Tim O’Keeffe welcomed the gathering and apologised for the bad weather before playing ‘Abide with Me’ over the P.A system. Tim then welcomed David Rajasekaram who delivered Psalm 23.

The Ode of Remembrance was said before Hayden Dalton played the ‘Last Post’ and the ‘Reveille’ before Rajasekaram delivered the Benediction for the crowd.

Very light rain fell for much of the ceremony. The crowd joined in whilst the national anthem was played, before the ceremony came to a close at 6:20am

Dawn services signal the start of commemorations across the Harden area on this very important day where we remember those who served and those who died defending our great country, Australia.
