The Anglican Parish of Murrumburrah-Harden celebrated with lots of fun and games, the 150th Anniversary of the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn of which they are a part.

The day started with Bishop Stuart Robinson arriving on a Fire Engine. He was greeted by the Mayor, Mr Chris Manchester and presented with two beautifully made metal Crosses, made and donated by Hans of H & S Metalcraft, Murrumburrah.

Bishop Stuart Robinson and parishioners at Newson Park.Bishop Stuart then assembled his 12.5 kilo, 3 metre long wooden cross the symbol of Christianity and of Christ’s sacrifice for all people. This Cross has been travelling the length and breadth of the Canberra & Goulburn Diocese, as a symbol of unity across the Parishes and all Christians. This is particularly relevant as we approach Easter when we celebrate the Risen Christ and God’s love for all people.

The celebrations kicked off with the Bishop’s Gumboot Throw! The challenge was to beat the Bishop’s efforts and many did, including our generous Firemen and received a chocolate frog for their efforts. Many children joined in the tug of war, face painting and parachute games, treasure hunt as well as the sausage sizzle and Birthday Cake.

There were people from Binalong and Wombat as well as locals and visitors. In all approximately 70 people joined in the celebrations. This is the Church in the ‘Market Place,’ showing God’s love for all people and we hope there will be more opportunities for us to do this again.
