Harden-Murrumburrah will celebrate the official opening of the Neill St upgrade with a Spanish-themed food and wine festival.

Hilltops is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting food and wine regions in the country. The surrounding towns of Boorowa and Young make up the region, which is fast becoming known for its cool climate vineyards which consistently produce award-winning wines; the region has a plentitude of cafes and restaurants, many of which feature local produce as part of the menu.

The agricultural land of the Hilltops produces livestock and crops of the finest quality, orchards are renowned for their exceptional stone fruit and on visiting the area travellers also find historic architecture and friendly people waiting to welcome them.

Harden-Murrumburrah has a high altitude, coupled with the dry summer and autumn, which provides excellent ripening conditions. This and the rich soil enables the production of wines with great intensity of flavour. Twelve local wine producers have their wines in the ‘Hilltops Regional Cellar Door’ located in the Young Visitors Centre. The Jugiong Wine Cellars also displays a wide variety of Hilltops wines. Just a taste of the Hilltops powerful yet refined wines, will have you wanting more.

The Hilltops region is rich in all things food. From fruit ready to be picked from the tree, to delicious, long café-style lunches, to mouth-watering homemade preserves. Food is an experience in the Hilltops and we invite you and your family to enjoy the many wonderful eateries located in Boorowa, Harden and Young. We are renowned for fresh, paddock-to-plate style produce and can guarantee that the Hilltops region will fulfill every food lover’s heart-felt desire.

The Hilltops region is also home to a large number of other fruit varieties: peaches, apricots, plums, pears, nectarines, apples and prunes.

Cherries are available from mid-November to December, whereas stone fruits are ripe and juicy from January through to March. Our delightful Autumn weather draws people for weekend visits and you will be sure to sink your teeth into pears, apples, grapes, quinces and persimmons as the season eases into Winter.

Throughout the year Harden, Boorowa and Young host events which give due credit to the hard-working local growers and their produce.

Hilltops Harvest NSW Inc., invites you to enjoy a fun, family-oriented Spanish Food & Wine Festival in Neill Street, Harden on Sunday, 13 April, 2014, from 11.00am – 3.00pm.

The Festival is aimed at showcasing our fantastic regional produce and we encourage you to soak up the atmosphere while enjoying a glass of sangria, a bowl of home-cooked paella and a delicious Portuguese tart (or two.) The Festival is looking to be a fantastic family day and will be held on the first Sunday of the NSW School Holidays. Interested in making a weekend of it? The Lambing Flat Chinese Festival will be held in Young on Saturday, 12 April. We hope to see you there!
